RESTORE
The goal is to repair and renovate patient care in our health system working with Sickle Cell patients such as;
Systemic Racism and Access to Care
Inadequate or Delayed Pain Management
Suboptimal Transition from Pediatric to Adult Care
Inadequate Primary Care SCD Knowledge
Inconsistent and Inadequate Insurance Coverage
Poor Coordination Amongst and Between Providers and Supportive Care
Preventing these issues has been a long battle for many warriors. As advocacy, legislation and education have been the leading factors of change for our community.
Though change for the better is slowly happening, it is unfortunate we still have patients struggling with the transition to adult healthcare living with sickle cell. Such factors listed to the left have been a big factor in many warriors pushing away from getting proper care and physicians loose connection with the patient.
Our RESTORE Project is aiming for informational vending and remote blood donation banks located at our local hospitals, high school pep rallies, and college sporting events. Our Booth shares R.E.D. with the community informing them about sickle cell testing, blood donations, and self-care.
